Jarrod Wins Songwriting Competition, You Get FREE Song!!!

Greetings friends,

I am absolutely beside myself to share a bit of news with you...

My song "Walking In Central Park" has just won the Belfast-Nashville Songwriting Competition!

This means that I will be traveling to Belfast, Northern Ireland to perform in the 7th Annual Belfast-Nashville Songwriters Festival, February 23-27!

For the last 7 years, the sister-cities of Belfast, Northern Ireland and Nashville, Tennessee have brought together some of the very top songwriters from the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada to showcase their talents in the Belfast-Nashville Songwriters Festival. Some of the previous performers include Nanci Griffith, Raul Malo, Gary Nicholson, Foy Vance, Catie Curtis, Josh Rouse and more. I am overwhelmed and honored to be included in such a fine festival, and I am thrilled with the opportunity to meet and learn from some of the top songwriters in the world.

This is a song that I wrote about my favorite city on earth, New York City. I wanted to capture the feeling of walking through Central Park and down the darkened city streets in the wee small hours. Manhattan is such a magical and mysterious place, and my hope was to put to music the feeling I get when I am there.

I had the privilege of recording this song here in Nashville with some of the top session players around. Bryan Owings on drums (plays with Emmylou Harris, Buddy Miller, Justin Townes Earle, Shelby Lynne, Ray LaMontagne, and more), Paul Ossola on upright bass (played in the Saturday Night Live band in NYC for many years, toured with Levon Helm), Jamison Sevits on trumpet (Raul Malo and more), and myself on acoustic guitar and vocals all got into Signal Path Studios together, and cut this song completely live. The song was engineered by Mark Howard, owner of Signal Path Studios, and was mixed by my very good friend, Chris Jacobie.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy it!

See you in Ireland!
JD
