Greetings friends,
As most of you know, I spent the end of February in Ireland. I was fortunate enough to win a songwriting competition, which gave me the opportunity to travel to Belfast, Northern Ireland to perform in the 7th Belfast Nashville Songwriters Festival. I knew this festival would be a lot of fun, and that traveling to Ireland would of course be a great experience, but I had no idea just how amazing the week would turn out to be.
Throughout the week I was introduced to the music of some fantastic Irish artists such as Foy Vance and Gareth Dunlop. I had the opportunity to swap songs and have late-night jams with some incredible songwriters, and I had an amazing response to my music all week long. Most of all, I made some great friendships at the festival.
I feel a very strong connection to Ireland. I don't know if it is because my red beard and I have Irish relatives somewhere way down the line, or if it is simply that one can't help but feel a connection to such beautiful, ancient countryside and such soulful people. Either way, I fell madly in love with Ireland, and I can't wait to return.
Here is a YouTube video of me playing "Seasons Change" that was shot during the final show of the 7th Belfast Nashville Songwriters Festival.

Peace,
JD
